LATIN AMERICAN WORKSHOP ON CLINICAL ONCOLOGY RESEARCH (LACOR) – 2024

The Latin American Workshop on Clinical Oncology Research (LACOR) is an initiative to strengthen the scientific research of medical practitioners on clinical oncology, focused on clinical research as an innovative strategy for medical research, and to foster collaboration to increase the development of scientific medical networks in Latin America.

WORKSHOP-2024-sigma

The main goals of the workshop are:

1. Improve scientific research of medical practitioners on clinical oncology, focused on cancer in minority populations, cancer in women, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer and prostate cancer.
2. Strengthen research projects on clinical oncology to enhance medical research.
3. Foster collaboration to the development of scientific medical networks in oncology in Latin America.

The event will allows you to network with medical oncologists, medical scientific specialists, epidemiology experts, funding agencies, oncology fellows, and other potential partners. During the event, all participants will have the opportunity to share and exchange knowledge with faculties specialized in different topics such as clinical trials, research, medical writing, biostatistics, oncology, and public health. The four-day event will include conferences, roundtables to explore projects of interest, poster presentations, and specialized guidance.

The Latin American Workshop on Clinical Oncology Research (LACOR) has issued call for proposals to attend the workshop for fellows and early career medicals in oncology. Registration is free and attendance is by invitation only. The event is also delighted to offer a limited number of travel grants for participants (flight tickets are not included).

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Applicant requirements

For participants from Latin-America region:
• Health professionals working in oncology area
• Oncology fellow in training: must have completed the first year of training.
• Young oncologists: must not have graduated more than five years ago (2018-2022).
• Must demonstrate interest in research.
• Submit a research project oriented to cancer clinical research or cancer in minority populations that has not been considered to participate in other types of workshops.

Application process

The number of participants will be a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 20.
The evaluation committee reserves the right of admission.
The main data that will be taken into account are:
1. Quality and potential of the proposal.
2. Research competencies.

Documents to be submitted by applicants via online are:
1. Description of the research proposal detailing the clinical or scientific reasons why it is important, interesting and novel to carry out this research (maximum 500 words).

The project should include the following items:
• Title
• Introduction: justification, objectives.
• Methodology.
• Expected results.

2. Curriculum vitae, should include professional references (maximum 2 pages).
3. Motivation letter (maximum 350 words).
4. Recommendation letter (maximum 350 words).
